ACCESSIBILITY OPTIONS

Our commitment to you
At Paisley Group, we are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and accessible spaces where every participant feels respected, valued, and empowered. Our workshops, focus groups, interviews, and education sessions are designed through a person-centred, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed lens.
This guide outlines how we support accessibility across in-person and online delivery, along with other accessibility options.
Cultural and psychological safety
Creating culturally and psychologically safe environments is foundational to everything we do.
-
We acknowledge and respect the diverse identities, lived experiences, and histories of all participants.
-
Facilitators are trained in trauma-informed practices, inclusive leadership, and intercultural communication.
-
We use language that is respectful, inclusive, and free from jargon or assumptions.
-
Trigger warnings are provided where sensitive topics may arise, with participants empowered to engage at their own pace.
-
Participants are invited to step away at any time if they need a break for their wellbeing.
-
We invite open feedback and remain flexible to adjust practices to better meet individual and group needs.
-
We co-create activities with the communities that we serve and actively embed Transformational Ethical Storytelling Principles (T.E.S.T.) into the work that we do. You can read more about T.E.S.T. here.
In-person delivery
We are committed to delivery of services, including focus groups, interviews and workshops in line with our leading Work Health and Safety practices and commitment to center the needs of the stakeholders and communities that we serve.
Venue accessibility
-
We select venues that are fully wheelchair accessible and have accessible bathrooms, ramps, automated doors and/or lifts.
-
Locations are chosen based on proximity to public transport, with parking options available.
Sensory considerations
-
Quiet spaces are available for those needing rest or reduced sensory stimulation.
-
We minimise strong scents, loud sounds, and overly bright lighting where possible.
Communication support
-
Auslan interpreters and other language interpreters are available upon request.
-
Printed materials use large fonts and high-contrast colours.
-
Where feasable, we deliver services through a range of modes to appeal to a wide range of communication and learning styles. This includes awareness of visual, auditory, kinaesthetic and reading / writing learners.
Physical comfort
-
A variety of seating options are available (with and without arms, adjustable setups).
-
Participants are welcome to stand, stretch, or move around during sessions.
-
Water and a range of snacks (culturally appropriate and dietary-inclusive) are provided.
Online delivery
As a default, our sessions are hosted on online platforms that offer assisted technology capabilities (primarily Microsoft Teams). Find detailed accessibility options for Teams here. Some key features that are available are:
-
Close captioning, screen reader compatibility, and easy-to-navigate features.
-
Automated, Real-Time Captions generated by Teams. Learn how to turn on communication access real-time translations (CART) here.
-

Communication support
-
We offer technical support to assist with logging in or troubleshooting before each session. We advise testing the platform prior to the session and reaching out if you need any support.
-
Auslan interpreters and other language interpreters are available upon request.
-
Presentation materials are shared beforehand in accessible formats (e.g., Word documents, OCR PDFs).
Session Design
-
Frequent breaks are scheduled to support focus and reduce fatigue.
-
Participants may choose how they engage — by video, voice, chat, or reactions.
-
Cameras can be on or off, depending on participant comfort.
-
Facilitator backgrounds will minimise movement and distractions and be appropriately lighted.
Options for accessibility
We offer confidential accessibility planning prior to events to tailor support to individual needs. Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs, cultural considerations, or other support requirements when registering.
Materials and Resources
-
All learning materials can be provided in multiple accessible formats, including large print, Easy Read, and audio recordings.
-
Plain language summaries are available on request.
Flexible Participation
-
Contributions can be made in a variety of formats — written, verbal, or recorded.
-
Asynchronous learning or engagement options are available where needed.
Financial Accessibility
-
Discounted or complimentary access options are available for participants experiencing financial hardship.
-
We value the lived and living experiences and expertise of participants and believe that financial justice means remunerating participants wherever possible. Where that is not possible or appropriate, we ensure that activities are co-created directly with communities and constantly ask "whose voices are missing from this conversation?".
-
Travel subsidies can be provided for in-person attendance if required.
Feedback and Continuous Improvement
-
Anonymous feedback on accessibility, cultural safety, and service delivery is encouraged after every session.
-
We are committed to continuously improving our practices based on participant input.
